Rivalta Boxing presents “Friday Night Fights”

Event: Press conference and official weigh-ins Date: Thursday September 22, 1pm

Place: Infinity of Coral Gables. 2701 South Lejeune Rd. Coral Gables, FL 33134

Details: Hall of Fame Promoter Henry Rivalta of Rivalta Boxing is hosting a media press conference for their inaugural “Friday Night Fights.” The press conference will be immediately followed by the official weigh-ins. This is an opportunity to meet the “Liberty Squad,” a group of exceptional Cuban born fighters with extensive amateur careers. All media outlets are invited to attend the event and will have the opportunity to photograph and interview the fighters afterwards.

The exciting lineup includes a ten round main event featuring hometown hero Harold “King” Calderon (26-0). The undefeated welterweight with strong roots in Miami will be facing Ezekiel Fernandez (28-5-1) of Argentina.

Ryan “Blue Chip” Martin (24-2, 14 KOs) will be fighting for the NABA 140-pound title against Carlos Padilla (18-12-1, 12 KOs) in a scheduled ten rounder.

A super-bantamweight contest featuring undefeated Jorge Romero (22-0, 14 KOs) is also scheduled for ten rounds against an opponent to be determined.

Kicking off the show will be a team of exceptional Cuban fighters. Victor Abreu, Cuban National Team Member from Cienfuegos, Cuba (1-0, 1 KO) will face Maickol Lopez (16-2-0, 8 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico in an eight round super bantamweight match.

Olympian Frank “El Perro” Zaldivar (3-0, 1 KO) of Santiago, Cuba with over 200 amateur fights, will face Daulis Prescott (33-17-0, 25 KOs) for eight rounds in the lightweight division.

Luis Rivera ( 7-0, 5 KOs), originally from Tampa FL but now fighting out of Miami, will take on Juan Santana (6-6-3) in a scheduled six round contest.

Another Cuban National Team member from Cienfuegos, Nestor Santana, standing 6’6” tall and weighing 270 pounds will make a six round pro debut against Alexis Nieuwkerk of Amsterdam, NY (1-0, 1KO). Santana is only twenty-three years old but has an an amateur career of 147 fights, and has already beaten some of Cuba’s best.

Yordan Barrera of Guantanamo, Cuba will make his pro debut at 154 Pounds. With 250 amateur fights under his belt, Barrera is one of most decorated amateurs in his weight class. HIs opponent is to be determined.

Cuban Olympian Fernando Cruza, twenty-one years old and standing 6’5” and weighing 215 pounds will make his pro debut against Cody Kerr (1-0) Omaha, NE in a six-round contest.

Yankiel Navarro of Havana, Cuba will make his pro debut with four rounds of middleweight action against Nicholas Draine (1-0, 1KO).

Heavyweight Gustavo Trujillo, an exciting Miami fighter of BKFC fame will test his skills in his pro debut against Joseph Bond (0-3-0) of Orlando, FL.

Another Miami favorite, Uly “Monster” Diaz (13-1, 12 KOs) will face Quintell Thompson of Columbia, MO (5-17-1) for six rounds in the cruiserweight division.

Completing the card is Vadim Musaef (5-0, 2 KOs) of Krasnodar Krai, Russia, a World Silver medalist at welterweight. His opponent will be announced shortly.

Rivalta assures us that “this is going to be one of the most exciting cards of the year. I look forward to giving our fans in Miami the boxing they deserve.”
