The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL will, once again, play host to a live boxing event. The event will take place tonight, September 28, 2018, at the Events Center. Doors open @ 6:30pm with the first bout beginning @ 7pm.
Local promoter, Kris Lawrence, and his company, The Heavyweight Factory, look to put on another great event. On March 23, 2018, Mr. Lawrence and his group took advantage of an opportunity to hold an event at this same location and put on a sensational night of boxing. That event, labeled Rumble at the Rock, featured a very stacked fight card, including 11 professional bouts. Many of the same fighters will be on display again during this Friday night’s event, which has been smartly labeled Rumble at the Rock 2.
Scheduled as an 8-bout card this time around, the co-main event will showcase Mussa “Warrior” Tursyngaliyev (7-0, 6 KOs). Originally from Ekibastuz, Kazakhstan, Tursyngaliyev now makes his home in Miami, FL. Mussa showed us his power when he bloodied and stopped a very overmatched Luis Hinojosa (31-15, 18 KOs) back in March, when he was victorious in his bid for the vacant WBA-NABA USA Featherweight Title. Mussa will be defending that belt in a scheduled 10-rounder against journeyman Deivi Julio Bassa (20-5, 12 KOs), a southpaw from Colombia.
In the main event, we will once again see “The Korican Kid” Logan Yoon (12-0, 10 KOs), who hails from Honolulu, Hawaii. Yoon treated us to a complete 10-round beatdown of Mexico’s Juan Carlos Salgado (27-9-1, 16 KOs) back on that March card in Hollywood. This time, Logan will be facing off against “El Emperador” John Renteria (16-4-1, 12 KOs) of Panama City, Panama, who will be coming down in weight from his usual Welterweight division to take on Yoon at Jr. Welterweight. With his 5’10” frame, Logan Yoon has the ability to add weight and move up the weight divisions. At only 19 years old, The Korican Kid is one to follow as he continues to rack up wins.
As always, a few famous faces are expected to be in attendance, including former 2-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe and former Cruiserweight Champion and (the only) 4-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Evander “Real Deal” Holyfield. So, come on out and enjoy a full night of boxing featuring some great future champions of the sport, as well as a few local hometown heroes. Tickets are still on sale at TicketMaster or at the box office on fight night. We hope to see you at the fights!
