UNDERGROUND SUCCESS

West Palm Beach, FL:
On Saturday night, Armando Gonzalez and his team at Underground Cage Fighting Championship put on an unprecedented event. This one, unlike all of the others, took place outside at the new FitTeam Ballpark in West Palm Beach. The cage was placed upon home plate with VIP tables scattered all around it and more than ample seating in the bleachers behind the dugouts. Several sponsors were in attendance, as were a handful of famous and semi-famous notables. Former Light Heavyweight Champion and 3-time Heavyweight Champion, Michael Moorer, could be seen wandering around, as could Boxing Hall of Fame Manager, Sam Cohen, former wife of Muhammad Ali, Khalilah Ali, and former Bellator Middleweight World Champion, Héctor Lombard, among others. David Troche wins the TFN fighter of the night.

Like all of the previous events, the ever-gracious Armando Gonzalez, made sure the event went off without a hitch and all in attendance enjoyed themselves. As many others would agree, knockouts and stoppages really seem to make the fights exciting. Well, there certainly were a lot of them on display last night. Out of a stacked 8-fight card, more than half ended early.

There was an unfortunate incident, where one of the fighters scheduled in the main bout was injured while warming up in his dressing room. As a result, that fight could not proceed. However, it seems as if very few were too upset, as the prelude to that occurrence more than made up for it. Joe “Diesel” Riggs (47-18-1), who was scheduled to appear, came into the cage at the end of the night to insult and belittle his opponent, Oscar Delgado (7-5), for not working through his “supposed” injury and facing him that night.

All in all, chalk the night up to another one of success for UCFC. Word is there will be another event very soon. The venue has not been revealed just yet, but the understanding is that it will take place in Fort Lauderdale.
