The crowning of a new champion

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. We now have a new Heavyweight Champion of the World! Please welcome Tyson Fury to the elite group of men. Tyson, who was born in 1988, was named after Mike Tyson. He arguably has the coolest name ever for a Heavyweight Champion. Mr. Fury is 25-0 with 18 KOs and now holds the distinction as the Lineal Heavyweight Champion along with title belts from three of the four major sanctioning bodies: WBA, IBF, & WBO.
Earlier today, Tyson won a unanimous decision over longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko. The fight, which took place in Dusseldorf, Germany, was more than a boring event. This reporter was not surprised by the outcome, as Klitschko has been winning the majority of his fights as of late by way of well-placed jabs. There was no way for him to reach the bigger Fury with said jabs, and Klitschko would have needed to bring with him a different game plan. He did not. In the end, the unanimous decision was the correct one, as Klitschko landed just 4 body shots throughout the course of the entire fight.
What I can’t understand is that one would assume Klitschko would have sparred with taller fighters to prepare for the impeding battle with Fury. So, what happened? Well, whatever it was, Tyson Fury now holds all but one belt to be considered the unified champion of the world. So, what’s next for the new champ? Assumably, there was a rematch clause in the men’s contracts, which would allow Klitschko to be given a shot to regain his lost belts. As much as no one would want to see that, it kind of has to happen. If not, then Fury would probably have to forfeit all of the belts he now holds. So, let’s see what happens. Will Klitschko actually prepare this time? Only time will tell. But, today, we at The Fighting News would like to congratulate the new Heavyweight Champion of the World, Tyson Fury.
