Pettis KO’s Wonderboy Thompson at UFC Nashville
March 23, 2019 . The MMA Community is in shock following last night’s KO victory by Anthony “Showtime” Pettis over the “Wonderboy,” Stephen Thompson. Previously, Thompson had never been knocked out in his professional career, spanning 80 fights in several disciplines. But last night, with one insane, hooking Superman punch, thrown off the cage in typical Pettis style, a technique “so ninja I didn’t eve see it coming,” according to Wonderboy, that no-KO streak was ended. Wonderboy was heavily favored to win this one-Pettis was a +305 underdog-with his height and reach advantage, and fighting a man moving up in weight class. No doubt about it, Pettis is a ninja, but so is Wonderboy. In fact, he’s a bigger, faster ninja. Both men are known for their striking, although their styles are far removed from each other. Just goes to show how anything can happen in the crazy sport of Mixed Martial Arts. A big win for Pettis, bonus money included, but we are not counting Wonderboy out.
