West Palm Beach, FL: At long last, the much-anticipated inaugural event took place on Saturday night. The gracious host, Armando Gonzalez, began his newest project in style. City Soccer of West Palm Beach was the venue for the first-ever Rize fight card. A compacted six fight card was left after cancellations and fighter pull-outs. However, six fights was all that was needed to create a great show. There were knockdowns, knockouts, takedowns, tapouts, and referee stoppages. Additionally, there were a couple of future stars in the making on display throughout the night.
The event was well-secured and not a single incident was to be seen. There was a scary moment as one of the fighters fell faint in the back room after he suffered several blows to the head during his TKO loss 10 mins prior. The medical team leapt into action and were met by the doctor moments later. The fighter was transported to the local hospital for further evaluation, but the latest update is that he will he just fine. The idea the team wished to be overly cautious is a testament to how important the fighters really are to both Armando and the entire Rize family.
November 23rd has been set for the next event. Although a venue has yet to be secured, we know it will not be at City Soccer. However, the understanding is that it will take place somewhere in the Greater West Palm Beach area. Expect a bigger fight card with returning rising stars, as well as a new batch of talent. We here at The Fighting News look forward to the next event. Continue to follow us for updates as they become available.
