Delray Beach, FL. Former NABF Super Middleweight Champion Dyah Ali Davis (25-4, 11 KOs) resumed his career last night at Black Sheep Promotions’ Night of Boxing IV in Delray Beach, FL.
Davis last fought professionally in 2016 when he decisioned Victor Derocha (then 7-1-1) in a six round contest. Since then, he has become a popular boxing/ MMA striking coach in the South Florida area, training clients such as UFC stars Dustin Porier and Amanda Nunes out of the famous American Top Team gym, as well as his own Boca Boxing District.
Davis showed no sign of ring rust when he disposed of his opponent Samuel Miller (35-26, 21 KOs) in 2:45 of the first round with a vicious right hand to the body. Miller was a game opponent and landed a few good shots of his own, including a one-two to the body of Davis right before the KO.
Dyah Ali Davis is the son of Howard Davis, Jr, a celebrated amatuer and professional boxer himself. Most notably, Davis, Jr. was voted the most outstanding boxer of the famous 1976 Olympic team, beating out teammates Sugar Ray Leonard and Michael and Leon Spinks. Following his professional career, Davis, Jr. ran Fight Time Promotions, an MMA promotional company based in South Florida. So for Dyah Davis, you can say that boxing is in his blood, and we look forward to what the future holds.
The event was well attended with notable boxing and MMA stars including icon Mike Tyson, Adrien “The Problem” Broner, UFC star Rashad Evans and Nate “The Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell.
