Orlando, FL October 15, 2022. Boxlab Promotions and Warriors Boxing presented a spectacular evening of professional boxing at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, FL. In the main event, Cuba’s Kevin “Alfa” Brown (1-0) TKO’d Adriano Profirio Ramirez (12-4) for the vacant WBA Fedecaribe Super Lightweight title. Brown was cut above his left eye by a headbutt in round three. By the end of round four, Brown seemed to be ahead on points, out-jabbing and winning most of the exchanges. Brown landed a left hook in 2:34 of round six that knocked Ramirez backwards onto the canvas. The ref did not want Ramirez to continue and stopped the action at that point.
Prior to the main event, Damian “The Punisher” Lescaille of Cuba made his pro debut against Ramon de la Cruz Sena (23-34-3, 13 KOs) of Argentina, clearly looking to make a statement. Lescaille brought the action in the first round attacking the body and head of his opponent. At times, Sena shook his head, appearing unintimidated by the Cuban. Sena kept a tight guard throughout the fight, so Lescaille kept looking for openings to the body. The fight went the six round distance and the scorecards were unanimous at 60-54 in favor of Lescaille.
Ariel “La Machina” Perez De La Torre (8-1, 6 KOs) of Cuba took on Facundo Eduardo Ased (9-5, 5 KOs) of Argentina in a 6 Round Super Bantamweight contest. Perez de la Torre took Facundo into some very deep waters from the opening bell, landing combinations at will. All Ased could do was cover up before being knocked out at 1:41 seconds of the opening round.
Next, super lightweight Sean Mason (10-0, 7 KOs) knocked out Eduardo Melendez (12-17, 1 KO) in 1:55 of round two.
Hometown favorite and former Olympian Antonio Vargas (14-1, 7 KOs) faced a game opponent in Colombian southpaw Jesus Martinez (31-16-1, 16 KOs). Vargas set the pace in the opening rounds and won most of the exchanges. Then the tide turned. Vargas knocked Martinez down midway through the third round, then continued to stalk Martinez for the rest of the round. Martinez decided he could not continue and Vargas won by TKO.
3-0 Elijah “2-Tec” Flores brought a large following with him to the Caribe Royale including Josue “The Prodigy” Vargas. His opponent Rashield Williams (6-1-0) was more than prepared for this encounter and gave Flores the toughest fight of his professional career. Fireworks were flying from the opening bell. Williams seemed to tire slightly in the fourth round, and Flores, possibly sensing opportunity, came out energized in the fifth. However, Williams was still very much in the fight, taking Flores’ best shots and returning fire of his own. The sixth and final round saw both men scoring in this easy candidate for fight of the night. Judges awarded Flores the split decision.
A native of Poland, cruiserweight Adrian Pinheiro (9-0, 9 KOs) looked for his tenth career knockout against Lamont “Too Smooth” Capers (11-17-2). But Capers had no intention of going down easy. The cruiserweights fought solidly for six rounds. Pinheiro proved to be the aggressor throughout and the final scorecards read 59-55, 60-54, 60-55 for a unanimous decision win.
Mexico’s Armando “El Toro” Resendiz (12-1, 8 KOs) took early control in his bout against Venezuelan southpaw Heber Rondon (20-1, 13 KOs). For two rounds Rondon enjoyed taunting Resendiz with his hands held low, but was unable to launch any kind of offensive. After round two, Rondon told the referee he was dizzy and unable to continue, hand the TKO victory to Resendiz.
Undefeated super welterweight Derrick “Diesel” Jackson (9-0, 5 KOs), a hometown favorite, faced Argentina’s Damian Bonelli (24-11, 20 KOs). Bonelli is always a game opponent, who previously knocked out undefeated prospect Derrick Cuevas in Miami. Jackson connected with two hard rights to the head of Bonelli at the end of round two that prompted the ringside physician to check Bonelli’s equilibrium between the rounds. Jackson put his foot on the gas in the third round but somehow Bonelli managed to survive on wobbly legs. Bonelli came around in the fourth and hammered Jackson with some hard shots of his own. By round five we had a war on our hands. Round six was all Jackson with Bonnelli just trying to survive. Diesel scored with a big overhand right at the end of round seven but still his Argentinian opponent held on. Bonelli showed tremendous grit and determination in this fight. All three judges scored in favor of Jackson 79-73 on all three cards.
