Hernandez Retains Titles at Fists of Fury

By Matthew Benoliel

10.2.24. Boynton Beach, FL. The Heavyweight Factory’s Fists of Fury series delivered the goods with a fistful of adrenalin pumping pugilism punctuated with three TKO stoppages and a possible future world champion.

In the main event Yoneli Hernandez (5-0, 5 KOs) put his WBC Fecarbox and WBA Continental Americas belts on the line against hometown favorite Bryce Henry (7-0, 5 KOs). Hernandez controlled the action from the opening bell and overpowered Henry. The Cuban born Hernandez had an extensive amateur career and won gold in the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championship. He is currently ranked #9 by the WBC, and #3 by the WBA. Could a world title be in his future?

Another hometown favorite Aaron “The Alien King” Aponte (10-2-1, 2 KOs) outclassed and decisioned Lester Madrano (16-18-3, 9 KOs) of Nicaragua in an eight rounder in the super lightweight division. His stablemate, from KO Fitness Miami,  Armando Martinez (12-0, 10 KOs)  TKO’d D’Angelo Keys (18-5, 11KOs ) in round eight of their ten round contest at lightweight.

Undefeated Yan Marcos (12-0, 7 KOs) disposed of journeyman Luis Solis (26-21-4) in just four rounds to continue his undefeated campaign at super welterweight. To our readers-keep an eye on Yan Marcos as he continues to hone his craft.

Super lightweight Gavonne Bess won his pro debut, defeating Marcelo Del Aguila (2-1). Bess, known as “Bam Bam” showed poise and tenacity throughout the contest and is a welcome addition to the South Florida boxing landscape. As is Montaser Abougaly, who advanced his record to 3-0 with a unanimous decision win over Rodrigo Escasena (10-20-3).
