Hometown Throwdown At The Seminole Hard rock Hotel & Casino on July 6, 2018

Hometown Throwdown

On Friday, July 6th The Heavyweight Factory (Boxing promoter Kris Lawrence) will bring another exciting night of boxing to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. The night is being billed as the “Hometown Throwdown,” with both headliners fighting out of Miami.  John David “Pretty Boy” Martinez (10-0, 8 KOs) will face the hard-hitting Harold “King” Calderon (16-0, 10 KOs).

The Fighting News has seen these two warriors several times before and expect nothing less than top-notch action.  Both fighters are undefeated in their professional careers.  Calderon put on quite the show back in March at this very same venue when, following some punishing left hands to the body, he forced his opponent Ronald Montes to throw in the towel after the third round.

That same night, JD Martinez pulled a majority decision over his opponent Jose Cortes.  Martinez is both a Golden Gloves and Florida PAL champion. Both fighters are local favorites and crowd pleasers and we look forward to the action on Friday night and we expect plenty of roar from the crowd as they support these local heroes knowing that the coveted undefeated status is on the line.

against Ed “The Lion” Paredes (38-7-1, 25 KOs) in a 10-round rubber match that will conclude a trilogy rooted back in 2009.  The two fought to a draw in 2009, a fight Hernandez could have won, had he not been deducted a point for throwing Paredes out of the ring.  In the second fight, Paredes scored a brutal second round knockout in 2010 that was Hernandez’ first professional loss.

We also look forward to seeing Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon, who stands undefeated with a professional record of 11-0 with 10 KOs and currently holds the World Boxing Organisation NABO Youth Super Lightweight Title.  The 19 year-old Yoon is scheduled to fight the 31 year-old veteran Luis Eduardo Florez (24-9, 20 KOs).
