BOXING TONIGHT

This Saturday, Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center will play host to a great night of boxing. Headlining the card will be former 4-time champion, Yuriorkis Gamboa (28-2, 17 KOs), taking on Miguel Beltran, Jr. (33-6, 22 KOs) in what should be a hard-hitting, high-octane battle at 135 pounds. With a decisive win, Gamboa should jump up the rankings and place himself in position for another title shot.

Also on the card is former 2-time champion, Juan Manuel Lopez (35-6, 32 KOs), who looks to get back into the spotlight with a win against a game Cristian Ruben Mino (19-2, 17 KOs). These guys appear to have some bad blood towards one another judging by their comments at the press conference this past Wednesday afternoon.

Finally, we highlight another fighter on the card. Harold Calderon (17-0, 10 KOs) is a local fighter with a large following. Having fought opponents with losing records for the first three years of his professional career – as most fighters do – Harold has grown into fending off more improved opposition in the last 2 years. In his last bout, Calderon outpointed a then-unbeaten John David Martinez (10-1, 8 KOs) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino less than 45 mins from the venue of this Saturday’s bout.

Doors open at 6pm with the first bout scheduled for 7pm. The event will be also be available on Pay-Per-View beginning @ 9pm EST. The Fighting News looks forward to an exciting night of fights and wishes all of the fighters the best of luck and health. We’ll see you there!
