May 27, 2017: On foreign soil and facing the local, hometown hero, Errol Spence, Jr. unseated the current IBF Welterweight Champion Kell Brook. Brook, who last fought at middleweight and put on a fantastic performance against Middleweight King, Gennady Golovkin, was undefeated in 36 fights at welterweight, including a win over, Spence showed he is capable of beating a more experienced fighter, a heavier fighter, and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer in his prime. It is not hard to see Spence take on the best from here. The next fight he and the fans want to see is a unification match-up against undefeated current WBA & WBC Welterweight Champion Keith Thurman (28-0). This fight has a real possibility of not only being made but being made before the end of this calendar year! On hand for the fight tonight were Amir Khan and Shawn Porter, who was licking his chops at the possibility of his chance to win back his belt, which was taken from him in a controversial loss to Kell Brook two years ago. Spence puts himself right in the mix of the deepest division in the sport. Congratulations, Champ!
