Former Light Heavyweight Champion Jean Pascal scored a 6th round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Ahmed Elbiali to mark the final fight of his career.
The action began in the first round with Elbiali scoring some hard shots that definitely stung the veteran Pascal, but he was unable to keep up the pace. In round two, Pascal scored with a clean left hook that let Elbiali know he was in the ring with a tough opponent.
It was soon thereafter that Pascal took control of the fight, figuring out Elbiali’s defense and rhythm, and imposing his fight plan. Elbiali continued to score well into round five, and Pascal seemed to respect the power in Elbiali’s punches. However, Pascal’s experience clearly showed and by the final minute of round five, it was Pascal’s fight. Pascal knew exactly when to clinch to avoid the dangerous bombs being thrown at him from Elbiali, and he backpedaled casually to his corner towards the end of the round five to conserve energy.
After absorbing more punishment, Elbiali’s corner threw the towel at 2:08 of round six, but we look forward to seeing more from Ahmed Elbiali, who will learn and grow from this fight.
